CONWAY - Sophomore forward Michel Enanga of the Coastal Carolina men’s basketball team was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 4 Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Enanga carries a 3.57 GPA in computer science.
Enanga is just the fourth student-athlete and sixth selection in Coastal Carolina men’s basketball program history following in the footsteps of Jack Leasure (2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08), Logan Johnson (2009-10) and Sam McLaurin (2011-12).
He is currently averaging 6.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Chanticleers. He has played in all 21 games while starting 19 this season. He ranks 10th in the Big South Conference in rebounding and fourth on the CCU squad in scoring. His 14 points against Guilford and Reinhardt rank as his season bests while his 13 rebounds against Louisiana, South Carolina State and UNC Asheville are season highs.
Enanga will now go on to the Academic All-America ballot which will be announced Feb. 17.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
