Men's Basketball Back Home to Host Georgia Southern and Georgia State
Conway - Coastal Carolina’s men’s basketball team will be hosting its next two conference outings following a hard two-game conference road trip.
The home games begin with a Thursday, Jan. 11, 7:30 p.m. showdown with Georgia Southern. The Eagles will come into Conway in second place in the conference with a 3-1 record, 12-5 overall. The Eagles’ 12 victories represents the second most overall wins in the conference only behind first place Louisiana’s 14.
CCU (7-10, 1-3 SBC) will be looking to end its current three-game losing streak. The Chanticleers are coming off back-to-back road losses at Louisiana Monroe (82-72) and at Sun Belt Conference-leading Louisiana (81-64).
Following Thursday’s showdown with Georgia Southern, the Chants will host Georgia State (11-6, 2-2 SBC) Saturday, Jan. 13 in an ESPN3 televised outing at 3:30 p.m. It will be the Chants third televised game of the season and split the first two televised games, a 80-78 loss at South Carolina (SEC Network) and a conference opening 90-65 win over Texas Arlington that was shown on ESPN2.
The Chants split with both teams last season during CCU’s inaugural Sun Belt Conference season. CCU lost at Georgia Southern 91-80 only to comeback and defeat the Eagles 82-70 in Conway. CCU holds an overall 5-1 lead in the series.
Against Georgia State the Chanticleers went into Atlanta and lost 76-56 to the Panthers. Just a few weeks later, Georgia State came to CCU where the Chanticleers pulled out a one-point thriller, 65-64. CCU also holds a 3-1 lead in this short series.
