Conway - Four players reached double digits for Coastal Carolina, but the Chanticleers came up two points short in a 67-65 loss to the College of Charleston.

The Chants have lost seven games, two of which were by six points, one by four points and tonight's two-point loss was the third two-point loss of the season.

Zac Cuthbertson led CCU with 19 points and Jaylen Shaw scored 12. Shaw also had a game-high six assists.

Artur Labinowicz and Demario Beck both came off the bench to score 10 points with Beck grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.

CCU shot 45 percent from the field and hit 22 of 27 free throws for 82 percent. The two problems in the game were three point shooting and turnovers.

CCU only hit one of its 16 three point field goals and the team's 15 turnovers led to 17 Cougar points.

Grant Riller was on fire for Charleston scoring a game-high 24 points. Joe Chealey added 14 and Cameron Johnson added 11.

The Cougars shot 44 percent from the field, and hit five more three's than CCU (6-19). Down the stretch Charleston also hit their free throws, hitting five straight in the final 45 seconds. Charleston finished 17 of 20 at the line for 85 percent.

CCU out rebounded Charleston 31-28 and had four blocked shots. The Chanticleers also outscored Charleston 24-13 in the paint.

Charleston came out and jumped out to a 14-4 lead six minutes into the game, but the Chants inched their way back into the lead (27-26) on two free throws from Shaw with less than a second left in the half.

Cuthbertson and Shaw each had eight points in the opening 20 minutes. CCU struggled from the field only shooting 38 percent from the field and only hit one of its 10 three point attempts. The Chants did manage to hit 10 of their 12 free throws.

After coming out of the gates shooting ball well, the Cougars slipped back to 40 percent from the field with Riller scorching the nets for 15 first-half points.

Charleston only hit two of its 11 three point field goals and hit all four of their free throws.

The Chants will take a few days off to visit with family and friends for the Christmas Holidays. CCU will host Texas Arlington to begin Sun Belt Conference action Friday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. The game will be shown nationally on ESPN2.
