BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Willie Galick had a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds as Cal State Northridge (2-3) snapped the Coastal Carolina University men’s basketball team’s (4-2) three-game winning streak with a 76-69 win in the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off Nov. 24 in Bowling Green, Ky.

 Cal State Northridge shot 50.9 percent from the field and had 46 points in the paint, many in the second half as the Chants’ Mario Edwards and Sam McLaurin were in foul trouble.

Coastal Carolina led for most of the first half, taking as much as a 10-point lead with 1:44 left on a jumper from Joseph Harris. But Cal State Northridge would end the half on a 6-0 run, as the Chants led 38-34 at the break. Coastal Carolina had a 56-51 lead with 8:37 left on a free-throw from Chad Gray, but the Matadors would tie the game at 56 on a dunk by Galick with 7:39 remaining. Coastal Carolina had its last lead of the game (61-60) on a Harris free throw with 5:43 left. The game was tied at 64, the 12th tie of the game, on a Harris layup at 4:26, but the Matadors ended the game on a 12-5 run, sparked by six straight points in a 2:27 span.

Coastal Carolina was led by Harris, who scored 20 points and had eight rebounds. It was Harris’ fourth 20-plus point performance of the season. He now moves within five rebounds of breaking the school rebounding mark. Gray came off the bench to score 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Kierre Greenwood added 10 points and three assists, while McLaurin had 10 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Galick was one of four Matadors in double figures in scoring. Kenny Daniels had 13 points, while Lenny Daniel and Raymond Cody had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Coastal Carolina shot 42.4 percent from the field and had 17 assists compared to nine by Northridge. Northridge outrebounded Coastal 41-33.

Coastal Carolina returns to Kimbel Arena Saturday, Nov. 28 against Allen.
