CONWAY, S.C. - Joseph Harris scored his 1,000th-career point and Chad Gray led five players in double figures with 19 points as the Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team (3-1) defeated Voorhees (0-5) 99-56 Nov. 21 in Conway, S.C.
Harris scored his 1,000th point on a free throw with 18:35 remaining in the second half. Harris had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, his third double-double of the season.
Coastal Carolina shot 58.1 percent from the field for the game, including going 64.3 percent in the second half. Gray was 8-of-12 from the field and had four assists and three steals.
Coastal Carolina had as much as a 25-point lead in the first half and stretched that out to as much as 47 points with two minutes remaining in the game.
The Chanticleers are 3-1 for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
Dexter Moore added 16 points, including hitting four three-pointers. Logan Johnson joined Harris with 13 points, while Kierre Greenwood had 12 points in the first half.
Sam McLaurin had four blocked shots and has nine in the last two games.
Larry Bacon led Voorhees with 13 points.
Coastal Carolina will face Indiana State Monday, Nov. 23 in the NIT Season Tip-Off consolation round in Bowling Green, Ky. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. EST (4:30 p.m. CST).
