CONWAY - For the second consecutive night, Coastal Carolina had four players register double-figures as the Chanticleers demolished the Monarchs of Methodist 104-61 Saturday, Nov. 12 inside Kimbel Arena.
Chris Gradnigo scored a game-high 23 points while grabbing a game-high eight boards as the Chants turned 24 Monarch turnovers into 29 points.
Coastal was 38-of-67 from the field while shooting 64.5 percent from inside the arc in the second half.
The Chanticleers took advantage of three early turnovers by the Monarchs to give Coastal an 8-2 lead with 16:52 left in the first half. Methodist bounced back with a 12-3 run to take its first lead of the night on a jumper by James Whitehead putting the Monarchs up 14-11 at the 13:08 mark.
On the ensuing possession, Moore scored three of his 12 points to knot the score at 14. Methodist regained the lead on its next possession compliments of a Mark Jernigan three ball.
Coastal bounced back with a run of its own, reeling off 13 unanswered points to give the Chants a 28-17 lead with 7:30 remaining in the first half. Methodist was held scoreless for 4:40 before Blake Lanier made a tear drop in the lane at the 7:07 mark.
Methodist pulled within seven on a fastbreak layup by Lanier, cutting the deficit to 37-30 with 4:28 remaining in the half. Coastal answered with an 11-2 run, going into intermission with its largest lead of the half, 48-32.
Coastal extended its first half run with a 12-2 spurt to open the second period. The Chanticleers outscored the Monarchs 56-29 in the second half, holding them to just eight field goals.
Greenwood added six assists and three steals for the Chants to go with his 14 points in only 22 minutes.
Whitehead and Jernigan added 15 points apiece while Joey Horne had a team-high six boards for Methodist.
Coastal remains at home for the third game of a four game homestand to face Southeastern Conference foe LSU Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Kimbel Arena.
