July 6, 2012Aaron Burke and Daniel Bowmanadded to their impressive 2012 resume by being named to the CollegeBaseballInsider.com All-American Team. Burke was tabbed second team All-American while Bowman was listed Honorable Mention.
Burke, who was previously named third team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, was the 2012 Big South co-Pitcher of the Year and the Big South Tournament co-MVP with teammate Ryan Connolly. Burke finished the season fifth in the NCAA with a Big South-best 1.58 ERA. The junior led the nation in ERA twice during the 2012 season and ranked among the nation's top five in 13 of the 16 weeks. Burke additionally led the Big South in wins with 10, ranked 22nd in the NCAA, while adding seven saves to figure in 17 of Coastal's 42 wins.
Bowman, also a third team All-American by Collegiate Baseball and CollegeSportsMadness.com, was the 2012 Big South Player of the Year. In the NCAA final statistics, the senior ranked 11th in batting average (.401), 26th in runs scored (62), 14th in hits (95), 60th in triples (5), 72nd in slugging percentage (.578), 37th in total bases (137) and 29th in on-base percentage. In the final Big South statistics, Bowman ranked first in total bases, first in on-base percentage, second in overall batting average, second in hits, second in triples, second in slugging percentage, third in runs scored, 8th in stolen bases, 9th-tie in doubles, 9th-tie in home runs. The second team All-Atlantic Region pick was recognized three times during the season for having an outstanding week, including once as the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Big South Player of the Week.
Bowman is the CCU career leader in games played, games started, at bats, hits, RBI and total bases. In the Big South, Bowman in the league's all-time leader in at bats and total bases, while ranking among the league's all-time top five in games played, runs scored, hits, home runs and RBI. In additional, he is the FIRST player in Big South history with 200 runs, 200 RBI and 300 hits.
