CONWAY, S.C. Coastal Carolina University will host one of 16 NCAA Baseball Regionals June 1-4, the NCAA announced today (May 27). The regional will take place at Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Coastal Carolina will join Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida State, Long Beach State, Missouri, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Rice, San Diego, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wichita State as regional hosts. Those schools will play on campus except for Texas, who will play at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas.
Coastal Carolina (48-11) joins Missouri, San Diego and Vanderbilt as first-time regional hosts. Coastal Carolina won the Big South Conferences automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament by virtue of its 6-5 win over Liberty in the conference tournament championship game.
Tickets for the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional will be $60 for an all-tournament pass in the reserved session and $50 for an all-tournament pass in the general admission section. Single-game tickets are $15 in reserved and $10 in general admission. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans ticket office will handle all requests for tickets to the regional. There will be two games each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The first game each day will take place at 1:05 p.m., with the second game at 7:05 p.m. The if-necessary game on Monday will begin at 1:05 p.m. All times are subject to change based on television assignments.
Coastal Carolina will find out who will be in the Myrtle Beach Regional Monday, May 28 at 12:30 p.m. The Chanticleers will watch the selection at Handleys Pub and Grub in the Carolina Forest Shopping Center and fans are encouraged to attend.
