CONWAY - After being named the Big South Choice Hotels Big South Player of the Week on Monday, Coastal Carolina senior Daniel Bowman has been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Southeast Regional Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Bowman batted .611 (11-for-18) in four games with 10 runs and five RBI. Bowman, who was 6-for-9 with runners on base, had one double and one home run in posting a slugging percentage of .833 and an on-base percentage of .650. He was also 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.
This past week was a good one for the Chanticleers. The team re-entered the Collegiate Baseball top 25 and CollegeBaseballInsider.com tabbed Coastal Carolina as its National Team of the Week on Tuesday after winning at #30 Clemson and getting a series sweep at Liberty.
In addition to Bowman's honors, fellow senior Rich Witten was named a CollegeBaseball360.com Primetime Performer this week as he had three game-winning RBI, including two, two-run doubles and a two-run home run. Witten also earned Big South Co-Player of the Week honors earlier this season (April 16).
Bowman has been singled out for his outstanding performances three times this season. He is a two-time Big South Player of the Week (March 12 and April 30) and has been named National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (Mar. 13) and the CollegeSportsMadness.com Big South Player of the Week (April 24).
Coastal Carolina will face Campbell in a key Big South battle this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday, with first pitch set for 2 pm, and a single game Sunday, also a 2 pm start.
