CONWAY - The 26th-ranked Coastal Carolina baseball team (24-13) will host Radford (20-15) in a key Big South series this weekend at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
Friday's game is set for 6 pm and will be available on ESPN3. Saturday's contest is also set for 6 pm with the Department of Athletics handing out championship rings for the 2012 Chanticleer baseball program before the game. The series will conclude Sunday with first pitch set for at 2 pm.
Also, all three game will be broadcast locally on WSEA The Team (100.3 FM) and can be heard worldwide on GoCCUSports.com.
Coastal owns a 62-20 advantage over Radford in the all-time series, beating the Highlanders in 32 of the last 35 meetings, and are 31-7 all-time in home games versus RU. Coastal Carolina's probable rotation will include LHP Ben Smith on Friday (3-1, 1.35 ERA), RHP Seth Lamando Saturday (4-1, 1.78 ERA) and Tyler Poole Sunday (4-1, 2.65 ERA). Radford will counter with RHP Tyler Costello (3-3, 4.67 ERA), LHP Michael Boyle (4-1, 4.29 ERA) and RHP Keith Fritz (1-2, 5.15 ERA).
The Chanticleers are coming off a loss to #1 North Carolina, but have won nine of their last 10 and 17 of their last 20. Also, Coastal has won all four conference series this season, including sweeps over Liberty and Winthrop, and has posted a league-best 10-2 mark to date.
On Friday, the first 150 fans to enter the stadium will receive a free Coastal Carolina dog bowl and leash. Gates will open at 4 pm - two hours prior to first pitch. NOTE: FRIDAY IS NOT A DOG/PETS NIGHT, fans will just be receiving the dog bowl or leash.
