No.26 Baseball at Citadel Postponed; Chants Have Key Weekend Series

April 5, 2017

CONWAY - Due to inclement weather in the forecast for Wednesday in Charleston, the baseball game between #26 Coastal Carolina and The Citadel has been postponed. The teams have rescheduled the contest for April 25 (Tuesday) and first pitch is set for 5 pm at Riley Park.

The Chanticleers host a key Sun Belt series with #20 Louisiana this weekend. Game times are set for 6 pm Friday, 2 pm Saturday and 11 am Sunday.

The Friday night contest will feature two of the top pitchers in the league – and perhaps two of the better pitchers in the nation. Coastal’s Alex Cunningham was named National Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday and has won the last two Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honors as he has tossed back-to-back, complete-game shutouts. He leads the Sun Belt in strikeouts with 58 – with just nine walks – and sports a 4-0 record with a 1.97 ERA. Louisiana hurler Gunner Leger is 5-1 with a 1.27 ERA – best among the Sun Belt starters. Both pitchers are holding their opponents to a batting average under .200.
