Baseball Falls to Missouri 21-4
CONWAY, SC The Coastal Carolina University baseball team (4-2) fell to the University of Missouri (6-0) 21-4 in game six of the Beach Blast at Charles Watson Stadium Feb. 21.
The highlights for the Chants occured in the long ball. Senior Ryan McGraw (Saginaw, Mich./Nouvel Catholic Central) went deep to right field in the third of Garrett Broshius. Sophomore Adam Pernasilici (Tecumseh, Ontario/St. Annes) hit a shot to center in the sixth and freshman Danny Morgan (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian) went deep in the ninth.
Missouri scored four in the second, three in the fifth, four in the next two innings and six in the eighth. The Tigers hit six home runs, including three from Brad Flanders. He also had seven runs-batted-in.
Sophomore Zach Baldwin (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) took the loss for the Chants, pitching four innings, striking out five but walking five and allowing six earned runs. Broshuis went six innings for the win, striking out eight in his second straight outing.
In other games, Rider defeated Evansville 13-12 and Albany defeated Rider 14-10
The Beach Blast concludes tomorrow with three games. Missouri faces Albany at 10 a.m., Evansville faces Rider at 1 p.m. and Coastal faces Albany at 4 p.m.
