CLINTON - Daniel Bowman hit two home runs, including one during an eight-run sixth inning, and Coastal Carolina cruised to a 15-3 victory over Presbyterian Saturday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex. The Chants improve to 20-11 overall and 6-2 in the Big South Conference, while the Blue Hose fall to 18-14, 4-7.

Coastal was holding on to a 3-2 lead after five compete, as PC scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, before the Chants scored eight in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Bowman was 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Scott Woodward was 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. Tommy La Stella added three RBI on two hits, while Hayes Orton, Taylor Motter and Keith Hardwick each added two hits.

Matt Rein (4-1) earned the win, pitching five innings and facing the minimum amount of batters through three complete. He allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) with a walk and a strike out.

Bowman broke the scoreless tie in the top of the second with a lead-off home run, hit sixth round-tripper of the season.

With two outs in the third, Woodward singled through the right side of the infield and Orton followed with a double to right-center field, allowing Woodward to score from first for a 2-0 lead.

The Chants added to their advantage with a run in the fifth. Woodward was hit by a pitch to leadoff the inning. After Woodward's 20th steal of the season, Orton laid down a sacrifice bunt and La Stella delivered an RBI single through the right side of the infield.

The Blue Hose got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, scoring twice. Brandon Paul and Gabe Grammer had back-to-back hits to start the inning and Nate Horton loaded the bases, reaching on an error when laying down a sacrifice bunt. Williams scored on Tyler Hill's RBI ground out and John Wagner followed with a sacrifice fly.

Coastal answered in the top of the sixth, sending 14 men to the plate to go up 11-2. Keith Hardwick hit the first pitch of the inning to left-center field, moved to second on a passed ball and advanced to third on Rich Witten's sacrifice bunt. Tucker Frawley followed with an RBI single and Josh Conway singled to put runners on first and second. Frawley scored on Woodward's double off the left-field fence. Orton put runners on the corners with an RBI single to right, chasing PC starter Bud Jeter (5-3). La Stella welcomed Steven Richardson with a two-run double and Bowman crushed a two-run home run to left field. Motter hit a seeing-eye single, moved to second on a passed ball and stole third. Hardwick ripped an RBI double to right.

The Chants padded their lead, sending nine men to the plate and scoring four runs in the seventh. With one out, Tripp Martin singled. K.J. McAllister reached on a fielder's choice. On the play, a throwing error allowed Martin to reach third. A passed ball brought home Martin and put McAllister on third. Motter reached on a throwing error, which also drove home McAllister. Hardwick walked and John Fidanza had an RBI single. Lopes walked to load the bases and Woodward got an RBI the hard way, being hit by a pitch to bring home the fourth run of the inning and make the score 15-2.

Presbyterian provided the final 15-3 score with a solo home run by Ryan Burt.

Coastal Carolina and Presbyterian will close the three-game weekend series with a final contest Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
