MYRTLE BEACH - Will Remillard and Nick Oberg each had three hits and three Chanticleer pitchers combined to shutout Harvard as Coastal Carolina (6-8) handed the Crimson (1-4) a 10-0 loss Saturday afternoon as part of the Coastal Carolina Invitational, played at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.

With the win, 18th-year Coastal Carolina head coach Gary Gilmore improved to 699-350 since taking over the Chanticleer program in 1996. He will go for win 700 Sunday as Coastal hosts Ohio State at 3 pm. (CCU will also host Ohio State Monday at 4 pm.)

Remillard was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored, while Oberg was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Jake Kane, Colin Hering and Alex Buccilli each added two RBI. Also Jacob May was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, whole making two key defensive plays - one in the first inning and one in the ninth - to preserve the shutout.

On the mound, starter Tyler Poole (2-1) pitched six innings, scattering five hits. He did not allow a walk and struck out five. Austin Wallace worked the seventh and eighth innings, allowing no hits or walks with a strikeout. In the ninth, Brady Arenson allowed two hits and two walks, but kept the shutout in order when Ethan Ferreira singled to center with two runners on. Coastal's May fired a strike home and retired Jordan Haviland at the plate.

The Chanticleers avoided a mini jam in the top of the first as Harvard put runners on second and third with one out. Poole got a pop out and May made a diving catch on a line drive to end the inning. In the home half, Coastal raced out to a 4-0 lead. May started things with a one-out single and scored on Jake Kane's RBI double. Remillard followed with an RBI double. Hering reached on an error, moving Remillard to third. Buccilli plated Remillard and moved Hering to third with an RBI ground out. Tyler Chadwick, making his collegiate debut, capped the scoring with an RBI single.

Coastal added a run in the third. With one out, Remillard singled, Hering walked and Buccilli singled to drive in Remillard to make the score 5-0.

The Chants put the game out of reach with four runs in the sixth inning. Oberg hit a leadoff double and CCU would load the bases when Ted Blackman singled and May was hit by a pitch. Kane was walked on four pitches to force Oberg home. Remillard singled to score Blackman and Hering followed with a two-run double.

Coastal provided the 10- final in the seventh as Oberg doubled and scored on May's RBI double.

Sam Dodge (0-2) suffered the loss for Harvard. He allowed seven hits and five runs (three earned) over 3.2 innings. Mike Martin accounted for three of Harvard's seven hits, going 3-for-4 at the plate.

Prior to Sunday's CCU-Ohio State game, Ball State and Harvard will play at 11 am. In the Coastal Carolina Invitational, Coastal has beaten Ball State (5-3) and Harvard (10-0) and Ohio State has beaten Harvard (11-0) and Ball State (5-3).
