MYRTLE BEACH - North Carolina State scored seven runs in the fourth inning and cruised to a 12-3 victory over 17th-ranked Coastal Carolina (4-4) Sunday evening in the final game of the Caravelle Resort's Baseball at the Beach, played at BB&T Coastal Field.

For the Wolfpack (3-3), Harold Riggins led the way with two triples and two RBI, while Pratt Maynard and Tarran Senay each drove in three. Danny Healey (1-0) only allowed two hits, two runs and two walks in seven innings, while striking out six, to earn the win.

NC State broke into the scoring column first, going up X-0 in the top of the second. Chris Schaeffer reached on a one-out single and moved to second on a ground out. After Chris Diaz walked, Senay looped a singled just over the shortstop's head to score Schaeffer. The Wolfpack added to their advantage in the third, scoring once. Brett Williams started the frame with a single and scored two batters later on Riggins' RBI triple to right-center field.

North Carolina State sent 11 men to the plate and exploded for seven runs in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead. CCU starter Jim Birmingham (0-1) loaded the bases. New Chanticleer pitcher Aaron Burke hit the first batter he faced and Pratt Maynard followed with a three-run triple. Andrew Ciencin would bring home Maynard with an RBI single down the third-base line and Ciencin scored one batter later after a Riggins' second triple in as many innings. Riggins capped the scoring when Schaeffer reached on a fielding error.

The Wolfpack used an error to score three unearned runs in the sixth and go up 12-0. With the bases loaded and two outs, Senay hit a two-run single to put runners on the corners. Matt Bergquist followed an RBI single. The Woldpack would load the bases to chase CCU relief pitcher Tyler Herb with Chanticleer senior Matt Rein ending the inning with a ground out.

Coastal got on the board in the home half of the sixth, scoring twice. Hayes Orton reached on a fielder's choice and moved to third on a Taylor Motter single. On the play, Motter took second on the throw to third, but State committed a throwing error trying to get Motter, allowing Orton to score. After a ground out, Motter moved to third and later scored on a balk.

In the eighth, Scott Woodward drew a one-out walk and scored on Orton's double down the third-base line, making the score 12-3.

Coastal Carolina will hit the road for its first road game in 2011, making the short trip to the College of Charleston Wednesday (Mar. 2). First pitch at Patriot's Point is set for 5 pm.
