Prior to Coastal Carolina: Played one season (2016) at Chipola College and parts of two seasons (2014 and 2015) at North Carolina … Ironically, Wood broke his leg (left fibula) and missed the remainder of the season while playing with the Tar Heels after delivering a single versus Coastal Carolina at Springs Brooks Stadium … 2016 at Chipola (RSo.): Named second team All-Panhandle Conference as a designated hitter and was selected to the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) All-Tournament team … Batted .357 in 57 games with 16 doubles, two triples and three home runs … Added 13 stolen bases, 48 RBI and 49 runs scored … Team went 43-16 and was FCSAA state runner-up … 2015 at UNC (So.): Started the first 14 games of 2015, but ultimately redshirted after suffering a broken left fibula on Mar. 10, 2015 at Coastal Carolina … Went 1-for-3 and suffered the injury when rounding first base after a single … Was leading the team with a .333 batting average at the time of his injury and he did not strike out in 63 total plate appearances … Had a hit in his first 11 games and in 12 of his 14 games played … Was 4-for-4 on stolen bases and had a double, four RBI and eight runs scored … Went 7-for-14 in the UCLA series with two, 2-hit games and a 3-hit game … 2014 at UNC (Fr.): Started 54 games as second base … Hit .298 for the year with 10 doubles, 29 RBI and a homer … Slugged .358 and had a .358 on-base percentage … Was the toughest player to strike out in the ACC, going down on strikes just 15 times in 247 plate appearances … Made only eight errors for the season in 199 chances … Hit safely in all three NCAA Gainesville Regional games … Went 4-for-5 with his first career home run, a go-ahead two-run shot in the seventh, against Virginia in the ACC tournament (5/23) … Had 18 multi-hit games on the year, including a five-hit performance against Georgia Tech (3/22) … Missed three weeks after suffering a broken hand when he was hit by a pitch against Virginia Tech (4/25) … Returned to register two hits against Gardner-Webb (5/13) and had at least one hit in nine of the final 11 games of the year … High School: Ranked the No. 8 player in the state of North Carolina by Perfect Game and earned All-State honors in 2012 and 2013 in addition to being named the 2012 Pac 6 Player of the Year … Atlantic Region All-America team … Honor roll member.
