2012 (Fr.): Started the season as the #3 weekend starter ... Moved to the bullpen at Gardner-Webb (April 7) and went 2-1 (one loss came as a starter in the NCAA Regional) with three saves and a 2.17 ERA in 29.0 innings ... In those 14 relief appearances, he allowed 19 hits and eight runs (seven earned) with 13 walks and 35 strikeouts .. Earned his first collegiate win, pitching 4.2 scoreless innings in relief against The Citadel ... Despite allowing two runs and two walks over 2.0 innings, Smith struck out five to earn win number two in the first game of the High Point DH ...
