Oakes came to the Chanticleers after playing professional baseball for eight seasons. The West Chester, Pa., native was picked in seventh round of the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers straight out of Archbishop Carroll High School, where he was a first team All-American and All-State honoree his senior year. Oakes played for the Brewers, Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants and Baltimore Orioles organizations.
Oakes, who signed with Coastal Carolina in high school prior to being drafted, is majoring in sports management at Coastal Carolina. He is married to the former Austen Prosser.
