2015 (Jr.): Named second team All-Big South as a utility player (42 starts at second, 10 in left field and 10 in right outfield) ... Ranked 25th in the NCAA — first in the Big South — with 45 walks and ranked sixth nationally with nine sac flies ... Also ranked 131st in the nation in RBI (48) and 149th in home runs (8) … Among the Big South leaders was first in walks (45), fifth in RBI (48) and eighth in HR (9) ... In league games only, was first in RBI (28); first in HR (6); second in BB (19) and seventh in slugging percentage (.573) ... Reached base safely (hit/walk/hit by pitch) in each of the first 14 games of 2015 and had a streak of 36 games dating back to 2014 ... Overall, reached base safely in 53 of 60 games and had at least one walk in 37 games … Named Big South Player of the Week as he led the Chanticleers to a 4-1 record, including wins over #28 Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Canisius and Albany ... 2014 (So.): Named first team All-Big South as a utility player (30 starts at second, 17 at first, five in left and two at third) ... Was on the 2014 Gregg Olson Award Watch List ... Voted to the Big South Championship All-Tournament Team after batting .538 (7-for-13) with five RBI, four runs scored and two doubles ... Was 3-for-5 in the opening-round win, 1-for-4 in game two and 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and two doubles in game three ... Was the lone Chanticleer to play in all 57 games in 2014, starting all 57 as well ... Led the team with .326 batting average, 14 doubles, 4 home runs, 34 RBI, .446 slugging percentage, .400 on-base percentage while ranking second with 11 stolen bases ... Ranked sixth in the Big South in hits (76), runs (45) and runs per game (0.79) while ranking eight in total bases (104) ... In league games, batted .352, eighth-best in the conference ... Overall was 7-for-14 at Radford with a two doubles and a home run ... Had a great third weekend, hitting for the cycle over the four games (double and a triple in the Rhode Island win while hitting his first collegiate home run versus West Virginia) ... Was 5-for-11 (.455) in the PC series ... In the opener was 2-for-4 with the game-winning RBI in the 13th, a run scored, two hit by pitches and three stolen bases ... Was 1-for-4 in game two and 2-for-3 in the finale with three RBI and three runs scored thanks to an eighth-inning, three-run home run ... Hit a solo home run in the NC State opener and was 2-for-4 in the series finale.
2013 (Fr.): Played in 37 games and earned 21 starts at first base ... Coastal is 15-6 with Owings starting at first base ... Was 2-for-3 versus Elon, 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the VMI loss and 2-for-2 at Winthrop ... Had hits in both his starts at Georgia Tech, going 1-for-3 in game 2 and 2-for-4 with two runs scored and the game-winning RBI in the finale ... Went 1-for-2 with a two-run double in the UNC Asheville opener ... Summer of 2013: PerfectGame.org tabbed Owings the 44th-best pro prospect from the Coastal Plain League.
Prior to Coastal Carolina: Named the Class 2A Player of the Year and a two-time first team All-State pick by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association ... Ranked 10th on the HighSchoolSportsReport.com list of top players in the state of South Carolina ... Chosen to play in the South Carolina Select All-Star game ... Batted .488 with 46 RBI, 45 runs scored, 11 doubles, five triples and five home runs ... Had a .927 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage ... On the mound, was 2-1 with seven saves and a 0.00 ERA ... Struck out 27 in 19.2 innings ... Along with current CCU teammate Mike Morrison, led Gilbert to the 2A state championship, getting the save in the championship game ... Brother, Chris, plays for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
