2017 preseason All-American (3rd team Collegiate Baseball) … Drafted in the 28th round (835th overall pick) by Detroit Tigers following the 2016 season.

Graduated from Coastal Carolina in the spring of 2016 with a degree in Management and is pursuing his M.B.A. … Named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll three times (2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15) for posting at least a 3.0 GPA for each of the academic years … Earned Dean’s List recognition (Spring 2014).

2016 (Jr.): Named second team All-Big South … Was 10-4 with a 3.62 ERA … Led the league and ranked 10th with 17 games started while his 10 wins ranked 18th … Overall, pitched in 22 games and 119.1 innings while producing a team-best 98 strikeouts, to rank 56th in the NCAA … Earned the win versus NC State in day two of the NCAA Regional ... Pitched 5.1 scoreless and scattered four hits (working around a triple in the first and double in the sixth) with two walks and six strikeouts … Had his typical “bulldog” performance in game two at LSU ... Pitched 7.1 innings and left the game with a 3-2 lead ... Scattered 10 hits and walked just one ... While he did strikeout four, he walked five … Got the win in relief versus Wake Forest ... Pitched 3.1 scoreless innings and allowed one hit and one walk with five strikeouts … Got the win in relief versus UNC Greensboro (Mar. 13) ... Pitched the final six innings and allowed five hits, two runs and two walks with seven strikeouts … Returned to the weekend rotation at Longwood and recorded his third win in as many outings ... Pitched 6.0 innings and allowed three hits, two run and four walks with five strikeouts … In the Radford opener, got the win and pitched 8.0 innings to tie a career high at the time and he did not allow a walk … Trumped his outstanding Radford appearance with his first career complete game in a win over Presbyterian while striking out a season-high10 and walking none ... Scattered nine hits and allowed two runs (one earned) … Recording nine strikeouts, but got no offensive support in taking the loss versus High Point in the series opener ... Game was scoreless through six … Stopped a two-game skid by dominating Liberty in the series opener ... Only allowed three hits and an unearned run over seven complete with two walks and eight K’s … Very efficient in his win versus Campbell as he allowed two hits and one run in six innings with no walks and nine K’s. .. Threw 78 pitches (59 strikes) and retired the first 13 he faced … At Big South Championship, left opener (vs Radford) after six complete with a 3-2 lead but did not factor in the decision as CCU would eventually win 7-5 ... Allowed six hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.

2015 (So.): Named honorable mention All-Big South … Overall, was 6-0 and Coastal was 9-1 in his 10 starts … Versus Big South opponents (six starts with a 3-0 record), ranked second in the league with a 1.86 ERA … Missed the last month of 2015 with an arm injury ...Versus Georgia Tech, struck out a then career-high six with one walk in five innings … Pitched a career-high 8.0-plus innings versus West Virginia, striking out a then career-high seven with just one walk … Struck out a then career-high nine in 7.0 innings in a win over Bryant ... Only allowed three hits and three walks … Won a great pitching duel with Longwood (7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB, career-high 12 Ks) ... Longwood’s starter fanned nine with no walks in 6.2 innings ... Of the six hits he allowed versus Longwood, three were in the first inning which led to Longwood’s lone run ... However, after the three straight hits, Cunningham struck out the final two batters of the first inning and would go on to fan at least one batter in all seven innings and had two K’s in five of his seven frames ... His 12 K’s were one shy of the CCU record … In the first game CCU lost with Cunningham on the mound, he struck out five in 4.0 innings, but did not factor in the decision.

2014 (So.): Took a medical redshirt … Missed the 2014 season due to off-season surgery on his throwing arm.

2013 (Fr.): Pitched in nine games with five starts before missing the second half of the season with an injury to his throwing arm … Was 2-1 with a 3.30 ERA, striking out 21 in 30.0 innings and holding opponents to a .234 batting average … In his final game, a win over Liberty, he pitched 5.0 innings allowing one hit and two walks with four strikeouts … Named the third-best newcomer in the Big South by Baseball America in the preseason … Suffered his lone loss in a start versus Elon, allowing six runs in 3.1 innings … Since the Elon game, he pitched five times (two starts) and was 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA ... Over his last seven outings, allowed just four earned runs (eight total) in 23.2 innings with 19 hits, 10 walks and 18 Ks … First collegiate win came versus Akron in relief, allowing one hit and one walk in 2.1 scoreless innings with two Ks … Took a no hitter into the fifth inning in the Liberty finale before allowing a hit with one out in the fifth ... Got the win, allowing the one hit with two walks and four Ks.

Threw 23.1 scoreless innings in the postseason before allowing a run in the third inning of the title game … Posted a 7-2 record with a 0.34 ERA and struck out 97 batters in 61.2 innings pitched ... Batted .409 with two home runs, 19 RBI and 25 runs scored … Named all-area as a junior, batting .478 with 11 doubles and five home runs … On the mound was 1-0 with six saves, a 1.33 ERA and 46 K’s in 23 innings.
