Chanticleers Cross Country Competes at Appalachian State Invitational
Boone, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's cross country team competed at the Appalachian State Invitational in Boone, Saturday (9/16), with both finishing in fourth place.
Men 8k | 4th of 9 -- 123 Points
The top scorer for the Chants was newcomer Nadeel Wildschutt, who finished first, with his time of 24:59.35 to lead all runners. Hutson Baumann was the second Coastal runner to cross the line placing sixth with 25:41.90.
Andrew Southard (37th; 27:37.54), Michael Pieterse (42nd; 27:53.61), Andrew Avery (57th; 28:25.10), Doug Mullen (63rd; 28:50.44), and Riley Peninger (68th; 29:11.45) closed out the scoring and helped CCU to the fourth place finish.
University of North Carolina was the top team finishing with 24 points, followed by Troy of the Sun Belt with 73 points. Host Appalachian State finished third with 88 points, followed by Coastal (123) and College of Charleston rounded out the top five with 127 points.
Women 5k | 4th of 10 -- 124 Points
UNC finished first with 27 points to pace the women's teams, followed by host App. State with 60 points. College of Charleston (83 points), CCU (124 points), and Western Carolina (149 points) finished the top five.
The Chanticleer cross country teams will return to action as they host the Fleet Feet CCU Invitational, Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Intramural Fields in Conway. The meet is scheduled to start 6:00 p.m.
