Eckleben and van Graan Finish First At Tom Jones Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's track and field teams traveled south to Jacksonville, Florida to the one day Tom Jones Invitational on Friday afternoon. Coastal Carolina athletes, Erik Eckleben and Aynslee van Graan took home first place finishes on the day while there were other multiple top finishers.

For the men, in the long jump, the sophomore Eckleben, finished the event in first place as he reached 7.44 meters.

In the javelin, senior Nick Seabright also added a second place to his resume in the men's javelin as he tossed 52.40 meters.

After winning the shot put at last weekend's Bill Carson Invitational at East Carolina, senior Zach Bolton finished fourth this week with a toss of 16.70 meters.

Sophomore Andrew Southard finished 10th at the Tom Jones Invite's 1500 meters with a season-best time of 3:56.42.

For the women, in the 1500 meters, van Graan finished first with a season-best time of 4:21.64.

Eleni Frommann had a successful Tom Jones Invitational as she and her fellow 4x100 runners; Anacia Hines, Jonnay Anthony, and Karissa Lunn finished with a season-best time 45.68 and 7th place. The freshman also finished 12th out of 35 runners in the 100 meter dash with another season-best time of 11.57.

Other top ten finishes include; junior Samantha Layko finished fifth in the women's hammer throw with a distance 53.22 meters. Chloe White also picked up a top ten finish in the javelin throw as the senior finished with a toss of 40.18 meters. In the women's pole vault Lizzie Allard reached a height of 3.30 meter and finished ninth on the day.

Coastal returns to the track next weekend as they travel to Columbia for the one day South Carolina Open, Friday, April 20th.
