Men's Cross Country Receives All-Academic Team Honors

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's cross country team earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic status after posting a 3.342 cumulative grade point average for the 2012 fall semester. 

A total of 145 teams across the nation earned the honor for compiling a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better, and starting at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship. This is the third consecutive year the team has earned the academic honor and the eighth year overall. 

The Chanticleers were the only cross country team in the Big South Conference to receive the honor. 

Senior Kyle Kling led the team with a 3.873 GPA, and was named to the 2012 Big South Conference Cross Country All-Academic Team. Kling was a major contributor for the Chanticleers in the 2012 season, finishing in the top three for the Chants in five of the six events Coastal Carolina participated in. 

Also contributing to the 2012 squad were Evan Niciphor, who led the Chants in four events, Joseph Keitt, who finished 10th overall at the Big South Championship to be named to the All-Conference Team, Ryan Beckley, Cameron Wells, Tyler Cummings, Steven Egnatoff, Spencer Lange, and Graham Larson.
