CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina's Erica Peake was named the Big South Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Friday.
Peake took first place in the 60-meter dash at last Saturday's Orange & Purple Winter Classic. She clocked a personal-best time of 7.52 to win the event by .07 seconds and notch the fifth-fastest time in the nation for the season's opening meets.
The senior from Spartanburg also notched a third-place finish in the 300 meters at the Clemson event with a time of 38.89, the third-fastest in the country. In addition, Peake ran the leadoff leg of the 4x400 relay, helping the team to a second-place finish with a time of 3:49.10, which was the second fastest in the country based on the flat-track conversion.
It is the fourth time in Peake's career at Coastal that she has received the Big South's weekly indoor honor. She also was earned the weekly honor once during last year's outdoor season, along with being named the conference's Track Athlete of the Year.
The Chanticleers return to competition January 18 and 19 at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
