CONWAY - Seven student-athletes have committed to join the Coastal Carolina men's track and field program beginning in the 2012 season, announced head men's cross country/track and field coach Jeff Jacobs.

The class includes six student-athletes who have excelled throughout their high school careers and performed on their respective state's regional and state championship stage. Additionally, the Chants will welcome one transfer, Ryan Beckley, who led Spartanburg Methodist to a seventh-place finish at the 2011 junior college cross country national championship.

"This is a quality group of athletes that will make an impact in every event area of our program: sprints, jumps, hurdles, distance/cross country and throws," said Jacobs. "I am very pleased with this year's incoming class."

The Chanticleers will embark on the 2012 cross country season as hosts to the annual CCU Invitational on Aug. 31.
