CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The women’s 4x100 relay team and freshman Jordan Entwistle were named the Big South Conference Track & Field Athletes of the Week after their impressive performances at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Erica Peake, Symphony Thompson, Teka Simpson and Qwontajah Thompson of the women’s team took home the honor. Entwistle, who won the men’s javelin, took the Field Athlete of the Week for the men’s side.

The Coastal Carolina women’s quartet ran a season-best time of 44.90 to finish first at the Georgia Tech Invitational over the weekend.  The time is also the second-fastest in school history, just .07 off the record time set in 2011. The team is currently ranked No. 10 in the NCAA East region.

Entwistle took home the gold in the javelin throw at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a toss of 65.78 meters (215-10). His throw was the fourth-best mark in Coastal Carolina history and second-best this season. He is currently ranked 32nd in the event in the East region.

The track and field team awaits the announcement of NCAA East Preliminary Round Declared Athletes which will take place tomorrow, May 16.
