Peake Named Big South Women's Track Athlete of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior Erica Peake of the Coastal Carolina women’s track and field team was named the Big South Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after her four first-place finishes at the UNF Invitational. This is Peake’s first outdoor athlete of the week award this season and second of her career. She was named the BSC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week four times this year and has a total of nine athlete of the week awards over her career.
Peake totaled four first-place finishes at the North Florida Invitational over the weekend. She placed first in the 200 meters as she crossed the line in 23.35. Her time was good for No. 1 in the NCAA East Region. She also claimed the 100-meter event with a time of 11.58 to rank her No. 9 in the region. Peake then ran the opening leg of the 4x100 meter relay that clocked in at No. 1 with a time of 45.24. The squad’s time ranks them No. 7 in the region. She closed out the meet with a 53.9 opening split in the 4x400 meter event to guide the team to a first-place time of 3:42.10 to give them the No. 14 spot in the region.
The track and field team will be back in action this weekend at the Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn University.
