CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Junior Jackson Corcoran of the Coastal Carolina men’s track and field team was named the Big South Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after his second-place finish in the javelin at the Shamrock Invitational. This is Corcoran’s first athlete of the week award and the first for the men’s track and field team this season.
Corcoran unleashed a throw of 68.17 meters (223-08) on his final throw on Friday to finish second in the event. Corcoran was the top collegiate finisher in the javelin as CCU alum Jason Flanagan (2009-12) won the competition. Corcoran’s throw currently ranks him seventh nationally and third in the NCAA East Region.
The track and field team will be back in action this weekend with split squads going to the High Point University VertKlasse Meeting and the Weems Baskin Relays at the University of South Carolina.
