CONWAY - Senior Erica Peake has qualified to compete in the 200-meter dash at this week's NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. The 200 meters will be run on Friday, March 8, with the semifinals scheduled to begin at 7:35 p.m. and the finals slated for 8:35 p.m. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN3 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

Peake earned one of the 16 spots in the event with her time of 23.47 at last weekend's Virginia Tech Final Qualifier. She is the lone representative from an FCS school in the field.

Peake, who owns the Coastal Carolina and Big South Conference records in both the 200 and 60-meter dash, is the fourth Chanticleer woman to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, joining Jolene Williams (1998), Amber Campbell (2001, 2002, 2004) and Chasity Johnson (2005).

The Spartanburg native nearly qualified for the meet in two events. Her record time of 7.35 in the 60-meter dash, which she also set last weekend, was just .01 behind a trio of runners for the last spots in that event.

Peake, a six-time Big South champion, will be making her third appearance in an NCAA meet, having competed at the East Preliminary Round Qualifiers each of the last two outdoor seasons.
