CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's indoor track & field team seeks to win its fifth conference title when it competes in the Big South Championships Thursday and Friday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.

A total of 29 Chanticleers will compete in the two-day event, which begins at 10 a.m. on both Thursday and Friday. Coastal heads into the meet leading the way in the conference's season performance rankings with 268 points. Liberty is second with 226 and Charleston Southern in third with 82. The Chanticleers own 46 top-10 conference rankings among the 17 events, including five No. 1 rankings.

Erica Peake is the Big South record-holder in the 60-meter dash and 200 meters, along with posting the conference's top mark this season in the long jump. Jessica Gelibert ranks first in the 400 meters, with teammate Qwontajah Thompson second. Six Chants rank among the top 10 in the 60-meter dash, while five rank among the top 10 in both the 200 and 400 meters. Coastal also owns the top time in the 4x400 relay.

Coastal has three of the conference's top four times in the 60-meter hurdles, with Christina Davis, Gelibert and Ashley Davis ranking second, third and fourth, respectively. Emily Marchini ranks second in the mile run and Mary Lawrence is second in pole vault, while Letitia Saayman stands third in the 5,000 meters, Teka Simpson third in the long jump and Anjulia Nicholson third in the weight throw.

The Chanticleers won three straight indoor titles from 2006-2008, before finishing runner-up to Liberty each of the last three seasons.
