EUGENE, Ore. - Junior Reggie Nelson of the Coastal Carolina men’s track & field team placed tied for 19th in the high jump at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday evening. Nelson finished tied with Isaiah Harris of Saint Peter’s. His t-19th place finish earned him Honorable Mention All-American honors as well.

Nelson cleared the opening height of 2.05m (6-08.75) on his very first attempt. He then failed on his first two attempts at 2.10m (6-10.75) but with his back against the wall he cleared the height on his final attempt. The bar then moved to 2.15m (7-00.50) and he was unable to clear the height on any of his three attempts.

Nelson finished ahead of competitors from Arkansas, Lipscomb, LIU Brooklyn and Northern Arizona.

Nelson joins a list of only seven Coastal Carolina men’s track & field athletes who have competed at the NCAA Championships. He will return next season for his senior campaign after a memorable 2014 season in which he won four times including at the historic Penn Relays.
