ATLANTA - The Coastal Carolina track & field team closed out its 2014 regular season at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The men's team set a pair of school records in the 400m and 4x400 relay. DeAndra Lipscomb bested Alexander Hass' school record in the 400m by .22 seconds. Lipscomb finished ninth in the race with a school record time of 47.33. Lipscomb, Corey Hackett-Greene, Hass and Stevie Brunson teamed up to break their own school record in the 4x400 by .87 seconds with a second place finish. The group crossed the line in 3:08.55.
Brunson, Hackett-Greene and Hass all joined Lipscomb in the 400m as they finished 23rd, 26th and 30th, respectively. Brunson crossed the line in 48.38, Hackett-Greene came across in 48.65 while Hass finished in 48.97. Steve Carr and Deion Wellington finished 36th and 42nd as well in the race.
On the women's side it was Jessica Gelibert leading the way with a second place finish in the 400 hurdles. Gelibert turned in a time of 57.59, her second fastest time of the season. Christina Davis and Kaila Smith finished 30th and 31st in the race with times of 1:02.88 and 1:03.16.
Reggie Nelson placed second in the high jump with a height of 2.13m (6-11.75). Nelson was the top collegiate finisher in the event.
A pair of Chanticleers competed in the men's 400 hurdles. Kevondre' Hunt led the duo with a 23rd place finish in 53.54 while Russel Kanner came in 29th with a time of 55.13.
Emily Marchini closed out her senior season with a 26th finish in the women's 800m. She crossed the line in 2:13.25. The final competitors on the women's side came in the 4x100 as the Chants placed eighth with a time of 45.76.
Ronnie Jackson came in 37th in the men's 200m with a time of 22.02. The final two male competitors for the Chants were in the 800m. Joseph Keitt finished 39th with a time of 1:55.37 while Ryan Beckley came across 46th in 1:56.60.
The Chanticleers will now await the announcement of the NCAA East Preliminary Round participants. CCU has competitors on both the men's and women's side waiting for the call including Jessica Gelibert who ranks among the top-five in the East Region in the 400m hurdles.
