ATLANTA - The Coastal Carolina track & field team opened up its final regular season meet in Atlanta, Ga., Friday evening. The Chanticleers set season bests in four separate events at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Senior Shelby Nicosia led the way with a third place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a season best time of 10:34.54.
On the men’s side Joseph Keitt had the best individual performance with a fifth place finish in the 3000m steeplechase. Keitt posted a season best time of 9:08.13.
CCU’s only other top-10 finish came in the men’s 110 hurdles as Desmond Wallace finished 10th with a time of 14.28. Kevondre’ Hunt came in 23rd in the event with a time of 14.86 while Carrington Fernandors placed 28th with a time of 15.24.
Coastal had five women in the 100 hurdles. Jessica Gelibert led the contingent with an 11th place finish in 13.82. Ashley and Christina Davis came in 21st and 24th, respectively while Camille Hurley and Kaila Smith rounded out the group in 32nd and 35th.
Krissy Sansbury came in 13th in the women’s hammer throw with a distance of 5.03m (170-08). Senior Emily Marchini set a season best on the 1500m with a 17th place finish. She crossed the line in 4:33.33. Teammate Letitia Saayman came in 27th with a time of 4:41.75.
The last season best time came in the men’s 100m as Ronnie Jackson finished the course in 10.73. Jackson placed 27th in the event.
The Chanticleers will be back in action tomorrow as CCU has representatives in 14 events on the final day of the Georgia Tech Invitational.
