School Record Falls on Final Day of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - The Coastal Carolina track & field team finished up competition at the historic Penn Relays Saturday afternoon. The men’s 4x400 relay team took down the school record with a time of 3:09.42. The team consisting of DeAndra Lipscomb, Corey Hackett-Greene, Alexander Hass and Stevie Brunson finished fifth in the race and surpassed the record which was set during last season’s Penn Relays.

The women’s 4x400 relay team of Jessica Gelibert, Camille Hurley, Christal Green and Teka Simpson finished third in the college final. With a time of 3:35.73 the Chanticleers edged the Gamecocks of South Carolina by eight hundredths of a second.

JaDarrell Barnette placed 11th in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 14.48m (47-06.25) while Ryan Minor came in 15th in the hammer throw with a toss of 54.86m (179-11).

The men’s 4x100 relay team was disqualified in the college final.

The team will be back in action May 9-10 at the Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia.
