Chants Wrap Up Weekend at Duke Invitational

Van Graan, a redshirt sophomore, continues to have a historic season for the Chants.
Her winning performance at Duke comes on the heels of being named Big South Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week on March 30, just days after she broke the Coastal Carolina University school record in the women's 1,500-meter with a time of 4:22.11.
In other action, Malcolm Simmons finished 15th in the men's 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 50.47.
Elsewhere, D'Andre Fletcher (11.11) placed 23rd in the men's 100-meter dash, Jonnay Anthony (25.48) finished 20th in the women's 200-meter dash and TeeAsiah Vance crossed the finish line at 12.74 to take 22nd in the women's 100-meter dash.
The weekend meet, which included over 600 athletes from more than 20 schools, was one of Coastal's final two opportunities to earn qualifying marks for the Big South Outdoor Championships in Lynchburg, Va., May 10-12 and the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla., May 26-28.
Coastal travels to Boone, N.C., next weekend for the Mountaineer Outdoor Open. Action is set for April 30 at Appalachian State University.
