Numerous Top Ten Finishes on Opening Day of Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN, Ala. - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's track & field teams picked up 11 top ten finishes on the opening day of the Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn University. The Chanticleers competed in just seven events on the opening day. Coastal's top finisher was sophomore Amirah Al-Bayyinah who came in third in the women's triple jump with a season's best leap of 12.08m (39-07.75).

Sophomore Kelila Naules came in seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 11.59m (38-00.25) while sophomore Veneshia Holmes placed ninth while landing at 11.40m (37-05.00).

The men's top finisher was senior Jackson Corcoran who saw his first competition of the year in the men's javelin. He came up with a season's best distance of 59.34m (194-08). Teammate senior Chris Tillotson came in eighth with a toss of 52.57m (172-06) while freshman Nick Seabright came in ninth with a distance of 50.94m (167-01).

Junior Tiffani Kuhn from the women's team came in fourth in the javelin with a  throw of 39.16m (128-06) while her teammate junior Otessa Velasquez placed seventh with a toss of 37.14m (121-10).

Freshman Ishmael Kamara came in fifth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.86m (48-09.00) while senior JaDarrell Barnette placed sixth with a leap of 14.82m (48-07.50).

Sophomore Ryan Minor was the final top-10 finisher with a sixth place finish in the men's hammer with a distance of 56.54m (185-06).

The Chanticleers will return to action tomorrow as they continue to compete at the Tiger Track Classic.
