COLUMBIA - Six athletes from the Coastal Carolina men's and women's track and field team opened up action at the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina. Sophomore Tiffani Kuhn led the way with a third-place finish in the women's javelin.
Kuhn's throw of 37.44 meters (122-10) ranks as her top throw this season.
Men's javelin athlete Tyler Slapikas finished fifth in the javelin with a toss of 50.34 meters (165-02) to lead the men's contingent on the first day of the invitational.
Senior Anjulia Nicholson finished seventh in the women's hammer with a throw of 48.03 meters (157-07) while senior Naomi Atkins finished 12th in the event with a throw of 44.45 meters (145-10). Junior Cameron Griggs finished 13th in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 49.59 meters (162-08) while freshman Jordan Roach came in 22nd with a throw of 42.31 meters (138-10).
The Chants will have athletes in action at both the Weems Baskin Invitational and the High Point University VertKlasse Meeting tomorrow, March 23.
