Coastal Breaks Five Meet Records at Battle of the Beaches IX

Chants Have Now Won Five of the Nine Battle of the Beaches Events

John Heron enters his first year as a volunteer assistant coach for the Chanticleers.

Heron previous served as an assistant track coach at St. James High School in Murrells Inlet, S.C. during the spring of 2011.

The first year coach was a standout athlete for Coastal Carolina competing in both cross country and track & field for the Chanticleers. During his time on the Conway campus, Heron earned All-Conference honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a second-place finish at the 2007 Big South Conference Championships in 9:28.52. During the 2006 cross country season Heron placed seventh at the CCU Invitational with a time of 25:46.94, finished 12th at the Big South Cross Country Championships at 25:40.45, and quailified for the NCAA Regionals where he ran a 33:03.75.

Heron earned his B.A. in physical eduacation in May 2011.
