School Record Falls on Final Day of Winthrop Invitational

Alexander Hass Takes Down 400 Meter Record by over a Second

Jacob Simatwa is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Coastal Carolina's cross country and track and field teams. He will be working with the mid-distance and distance runners.

Simatwa wrapped up a successful collegiate career at CCU in 2004. The Mt. Elgon, Kenya native holds school records in the 400 meter (47.56), 800 meter (1:50.59) and the 4x800-meter relay (7:44.13). Simatwa was a five-time conference champion and six-time regional qualifier.

Simatwa earned his bachelor's degree in psychology in 2004. Simatwa spent the past two years at Dakota Wesleyan as a graduate assistant coach with the cross country and track and field teams, where he earned his master's degree in education in 2007.

Simatwa resides in Conway.
