Coastal Carolina's men's and women's throwers have achieved great success under the guidance of Jacquie Grimes. As Grimes enters her fourth season as an assistant coach, her athletes continue to achieve success at the regional and national levels. In addition to working with the throwers, Grimes also coaches the multi-events and is the strength coordinator for the throwers.

During her first three seasons at Coastal, she helped guide the Lady Chanticleers to Big South Outdoor Track and Field titles in 2005 and 2006 as well as the Big South Indoor title in 2006 and 2007. Grimes has coached one All-East performer, 10 NCAA East Regional Qualifiers, four Conference Champions and 22 All-Conference performers.

Grimes also helped Coastal's men's team to the 2006 Big South Outdoor title. She has coached one All-American, two All-East Region performers, eight NCAA East Regional Qualifiers, four Big South Individual Champions and 11 All-Conference performers. In 2006, Grimes coached Thomas Jordan to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championship meet, which earned him All-America status. Also that season, Jordan was third at the Texas Relays, won the Big South Championship individual title for the javelin and finished fifth at the NCAA East Regionals.

Grimes arrived to Coastal from UNC Wilmington where she was the assistant track and field coach from 1997-2003. She helped the Seahawk men's team to six consecutive CAA titles from 1998-2002. In 2002, she was named the CAA Men's Track and Field Coach of the Year. While at UNCW, Grimes coached two indoor NCAA provisional qualifiers, four outdoor NCAA Regional qualifiers, 33 CAA Champions and 134 All-Conference selections. She also served as the strength coordinator for the sprinters, jumpers and throwers.

Before her time at UNCW, Grimes spent two years as a graduate assistant at Troy State, her alma mater. She coached five conference champions and seven All-Conference athletes.

Grimes earned her bachelors of science degree in Biology from Troy State in 1996. She was a member of the Trojan track and field team from 1993-95. Prior to heading Troy State, Grimes attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill. and was a two-sport athlete, participating on the track and field team and basketball for two seasons.

Grimes currently resides in Myrtle Beach.
