Coastal Carolina senior Erica Peake has been named the 2013 Big South Track & Field Athlete of the Year as voted by the league's head coaches.

The Chants came in eighth in the second heat of the day while placing 22nd overall ahead of Pac-12 member Arizona State and SEC member Mississippi State.
The Coastal Carolina women's track & field team's 4x100 relay squad had its NCAA Championships ended early as a dropped baton pass on the final turn cost the Chants a trip to the finals. Coastal was neck-and-neck with leader LSU but a failed baton pass ended the Chants season prematurely.
