Media Interviews & Events Guidelines
Coaches are generally available Monday through Thursday mornings for telephone and in-person interviews. All coach and player interviews must be arranged through the appropriate sport contact in the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office.
All Coastal Carolina practices are closed, with the players and coaches available for interview 30 minutes prior to the start of practice by prior arrangement through the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office at least 24 hours in advance. A representative of the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office will be present to assist in coordination of those interviews. All player and coach interviews MUST be cleared in advance and arranged through the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office. Home and cell telephone numbers for players WILL NOT be given out by the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office.
Media are invited to watch the first 15 minutes of practice but will be asked to leave following, in accordance with practices being closed. The media must be on the sidelines and not be on the practice area itself at any time prior or during the practice.
There will be NO interviews following practice or prior to the contest on Game Day by any coaches or players, unless special arrangements have been made through the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office. If a special interview has been granted, a representative of the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office will be present to assist with the interview.
All media outlets that wish to cover Coastal Carolina events must submit their requests for credentials on company letterhead via e-mail or fax at least one week prior to the home contest, unless requesting a season pass. A representative of the Coastal Carolina Media Relations Office will notify you whether or not the request has been granted, so please provide a method of contact. Press credentials WILL NOT be issued to spouses, friends or children. Please check the Credential Policy page for information and guidelines on credential requests.
Possession of a season credential does not guarantee a seat in any Coastal Carolina athletics venue seating area. To assure a seat, notify a representative of the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office of your intention to cover a particular game at least 48 hours in advance. All seat assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
Single game press credentials can be picked up in the Coastal Carolina Athletic Media Relations Office during the week of a home contest. If credentials are requested and approved, they will be mailed only if the request is granted at least two weeks prior to the game. Any credentials not picked up will be left at the will call window or the ticket office at the appropriate venue.
Credentials must be worn and visible at all times. All credentials are non-transferrable. Credentials grant access to the venue and post-game interview areas at each particular venue ONLY. Access to locker rooms at any time or any hallways near the lockerrooms prior to the game or at halftime is strictly forbidden and grounds for revocation of the credential.
Parking passes are not issued for any sport other than football. Parking on campus is on a first-come, first-served basis for all other events.
The Coastal Carolina Athletic Media Relations staff will provide game programs/rosters, game notes and cumulative statistics for both teams to credentialed media prior to all games. The venues open at least one hour prior to the start.
Telephone lines needed for a particular game must be requested at least 72 hours prior to the game. All long-distance costs associated with the lines are the responsibility of the media member/outlet utilizing them.
For those with laptop computers that can automatically select an IP address, there are Internet connections available in the football press box, basketball arena and baseball and softball press boxes. Additionally, there is wireless internet available for use in Brooks Stadium, as well as other select venues (see a representative of the Coastal Carolina Media Relations Office for access password). Please know that the University server does track all Internet usage, including in the press areas, for inappropriate use.
During the Game
Media outlets covering home games are entitled to receive copies of the final game statistics, play-by-play and a scoring summary. There are also live stat monitors around the press area with up-to-the minute official statistics from the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations staff. Scores from games around the country may be available, so if there is a particular score of interest, please let our staff know and we will work to accomodate you.
Please remember - the press areas are working areas and cheering will be grounds for removal and/or revocation of credential for the remainder of the season.
Photographers are issued similar credentials to press box media. Photographers are allowed to shoot from outside the dotted line surrounding the field (Brooks Stadium) and outside the playing field/court (all other venues). Under no circumstances are photographers allowed in the bench areas during the game.
The postgame interviews with coaches and Coastal Carolina players will be conducted in the interview areas at the various venues. Both head coaches will be available to the media after a 10-minute cooling-off period. Also, select players may be requested for post-game interviews. Other individual players may be available for interviews at the conclusion of the game. Please see a member of the athletics media relations staff from Coastal Carolina or the visiting institution about individual player interviews.
A telephone and FAX machine are available to media and the visiting team's sports information personnel.
