Football Media Guidelines

Interviews During the Week
Coach Bennett is available Monday-Thursday for phone interviews in the morning and all coach and student-athlete interviews must be arranged through Mike Cawood in the CCU Athletics Media Relations Office.

All CCU Football practices are closed to the public, and open to the media unless otherwise stated. Coach Bennett and student-athletes are available after practices. A member of the CCU Athletics Media Relations Office will be at practice to assist in coordination of those interviews.

Media members must be on the sidelines and not be on the practice field itself at any time prior or during the practice. Conversations between coaches and student-athletes are confidential and not to be reported on. Also, no formations nor specific plays are to be reported on.

There will be NO interviews of student-athletes from Thursday at 2 pm until following the game Saturday, unless special arrangements have been made through the CCU Athletics Media Relations Office. If a special interview has been granted, a member of the CCU Athletics Media Relations Office will be at the practice to assist with the interview of that player or coach only.

Weekly Press Conference
Coach Bennett will have a weekly press conference on Wednesdays at noon of game weeks. The press conferences will be held in the team room on the third floor of Adkins Field House. Chick-Fil-A is the proud sponsor of the weekly press luncheons. Please assist in planning for food by calling ahead and letting Mike Cawood know if you plan to attend that week's press conference.

The weekly press luncheon will have a group question-and-answer session with Coach Bennett, as well as the ability to do one-on-one interviews. If you would like a one-on-one, please let Mike Cawood know. For television stations, the interviews can be conducted on the field level, but will be the last part of the luncheon.

If you would like to speak with an individual student-athlete, please let Mike Cawood know and he will attempt to make arrangements, based on the student-athlete's availability due to classes.

Credential Requests
All media outlets that wish to cover Coastal Carolina Football games at Brooks Stadium must submit their requests by Email, at least one week prior to the home contest, unless requesting a season pass. Mike Cawood will then notify you if the request has been granted, so please provide a method of contact. Press credentials WILL NOT be issued to spouses, friends or children.

Possession of a season credential does not guarantee a seat in the HTC Media Center/Press Box seating area. To assure yourself of a seat, you must notify Mike Cawood of your intention to cover a particular game. All seat assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Single game press credentials can be picked up in the Coastal Carolina Athletics Media Relations Office during the week of a home contest. If credentials are requested and approved, they will only be mailed if the request is granted at least two weeks prior to game. Any credentials not picked up will be left at the will call window at the north end of the stadium.

Credentials must be worn and visible at all times, as there will be people verifying credentials. All credentials are non-transferrable. Your credential will get you access to the stadium, press box, sidelines (photographers only) and post-game interview area in the Visitors' Building south of the press box.

Parking Passes
There is a separate parking pass for media members for the games, allowing them to park in the "R Lot" near the CCU Wall School of Business Building and the CCU Track and Field. There are a limited number of spots available, with priority being given to those media outlets/members that will cover all seven of Coastal's home games this year.

If a media member does not receive a parking pass, if the "R Lot" is full or if a pass is left at the will call window, there are other options. There is free parking in various lots on campus and at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. A shuttle will be running from stops near the CCU Bookstore and Student Center to the front of Brooks Stadium on a regular basis.Coastal Carolina University issues limited single-game parking credentials for football, dependent on demand for a particular game.

Home Games
The Coastal Carolina Athletic Media Relations staff will provide game programs, flip cards, game notes and cumulative statistics for both teams to credentialed media prior to all games. The press box opens at two hours prior to kickoff. Please enter through the main gate in the center of the plaza. Food will be available an hour and a half prior to kickoff. Please check the seating chart for the location of your seat in the HTC Media Center, which will also be denoted by a nameplate.

Phone Lines
Any phone lines needed for a particular game must be requested at least 72 hours prior to the game. All long-distance costs associated with the phone line are the responsibility of the media member/outlet utilizing them.

Internet Access
For those with laptop computers that can automatically select an IP address, there are Internet connections available in the football press box. Please know that the University server does track all Internet usage, including in the press box, for inappropriate use.

During the Game
Media outlets covering the home games are entitled to receive copies of the final game statistics, play-by-play and a scoring summary. There are also live stat monitors around the press area with up-to-the minute official statistics from the CCU Athletic Media Relations staff. We will also provide various scores from games around the country, so if there is a particular score of interest, please let our staff know and we will work to accomodate you.

Please remember - the HTC Media Center is a working press area and cheering will be grounds for removal and/or revocation of credential for the remainder of the season.

Photographers are issued similar credentials to press box media. Photographers are allowed to shoot from outside the 25-yard line on each side of the field and outside the dotted line surrounding the field. Under no circumstances are photographers allowed in the bench areas during the game.

The postgame interview with Coach Bennett will be conducted in the team room on the third floor of Adkins Field Hosue. Both head coaches will be available to the media after a 10-minute cooling-off period. Also, selected student-athletes may be brought to the Media Room for post-game interviews, based on media interest. Other individual student-athletes may be available for interviews at the conclusion of the game. Please see a member of the athletics media relations/sports information staff from either Coastal Carolina or the visiting institution about individual player interviews.

Road Games
If you plan on attending Coastal Carolina Football road games, please let Mike Cawood know and he will make assist in securing credentials and, if needed, parking for any media member making a trip.
