CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics and its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently completed its fourth annual Adopt-A-Chant Campaign, which helped to provide local children a happy holiday season by donating such items as toys, clothes and shoes to Toys for Tots and students at Pee Dee Elementary.
In all, Coastal Carolina Athletics was able to successfully adopt 50 children, a substantial increase from 31 children last year and six children in 2011.
The 50 children submitted a Christmas wish list, and Coastal Carolina teams as well as athletic administration worked to gather toys, shoes and clothes to provide help for those who otherwise could not afford it.
Some the toys gathered included bicycles, dolls, puzzles, books, games, toy cars and trucks, roller skates, footballs, basketballs, art supplies and video game systems. The adopted Chants also received athletic apparel from some of their favorite teams, including the Chanticleers, New York Giants, Miami Heat, and South Carolina Gamecocks.
