Coastal Student-Athletes Excel Academically in the Spring; 41 Graduate

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina Athletics is having one of its better semesters on the field - winning a total of six conference titles and six teams advancing to the NCAA postseason to date. More importantly, its student-athletes had even more success in the classroom.
In addition to 41 Chanticleers participating in graduation exercises on May 11, 32 student-athletes earned President's List recognition (4.0 for the semester), 104 student-athletes earned Dean's List recognition (3.25 GPA for the semester for freshman and 3.5 for upperclassmen) and a total of 242 student-athletes posted a semester GPA of at least 3.0.
This comes on the heels of a successful fall semester when Coastal had 20 student-athletes graduate, 20 earn President's List, 130 earn Dean's List and 256 student-athletes posted a semester GPA of at least 3.0.
Headlining the graduating class is baseball's Justin Creel. Creel graduated summa cum laude with a perfect 4.0 in biology and was one of seven students that received the President's Award for Academic Achievement, which recognizes students with the highest cumulative grade point averages. Creel additionally was one of six Big South student-athletes to receive the league's academic honor - the Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence.
The team breakdown for 3.0's for the spring semester were baseball (13), football (42), women's track & field/cross country (27), men's basketball (7), men's track & field/cross country (15), men's golf (5 of 8 team members), men's soccer (16), men's tennis (7 of 9 team members), softball (10), volleyball (12 of 16 team members), women's basketball (9 of 13 team members), women's golf (9 of 10 team members), lacrosse (20 of 24 team members), women's soccer (21 of 29 team members) and women's tennis (7 of 9 team members).
