Softball
This week: Coastal Carolina plays in its final regular season tournament on Friday through Sunday at the USF Under Armour Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. Coastal heads into the tournament ranked #21 in the Mid Major Softball Top 25 Poll. The Chants play three teams for the first time in program history this weekend (Hartford, Boston University and Bryant). Coastal plays Long Island on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and Hartford at 2:15 p.m. On Saturday the Chanticleers face Kent State at 9 a.m. and Boston University at 11:15 a.m. Coastal wraps up the tournament against Bryant on Sunday at 9 a.m.

Last week: The Chanticleers opened the week against the University of South Carolina on Wednesday, March 7 and swept the Gamecocks for the first time since 2006. Coastal won the first game 2-1 on a home run in the seventh inning and took the second game 5-4. The following day Coastal beat La Salle 3-0 to extend its win streak to eight. The Chants wrapped up the week by hosting the Chanticleer Showdown where the team went 4-1. Coastal earned a 9-0 win in five innings over North Carolina A&T on Friday and a 7-5 win against La Salle. On Saturday, Coastal recorded two grand slams and beat North Carolina A&T 9-0 in five innings and the Chants also beat Hampton 8-0 in five innings. The Chanticleers then faced La Salle for the third time in four days and headed into the game on a 12-game win streak, but Coastal struggled offensively and fell by a 1-0 score on Sunday.

Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field
This week: Coastal Carolina and the City of Myrtle Beach jointly host the annual CCU/Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Stadium Thursday through Saturday. This year’s event featured more than 1,700 student-athletes representing 55 universities competing over the three days.

In conjunction with the meet the Chants will also help host the Myrtle Beach Track & Field Day for youth ages 6-12 on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Additionally, Friday’s slate of events features the Amber Campbell Hammer Throw Invitational at 9 a.m. Campbell, a Coastal Carolina alum, will host and compete in a single, nine-competitor flight of the hammer throw. The event marks Campbell’s 2012 outdoor season debut as she attempts to qualify for this summer’s Olympic Games in London.

Last Week: The Chanticleers opened the outdoor season by hosting the Coastal Carolina University Invitational. The Coastal throwers made a statement in the event as Anjulia Nicholson (discus), Danielle England (javelin) and Michael Deitzler (javelin) each claimed event titles. Also impressing at the meet were Kyle Kling and Joseph Keitt with finishes of second and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000m.

Men's Golf
This week: The Chanticleers continue their spring season at the 43rd annual Furman Intercollegiate. The Intercollegiate runs from Friday through Sunday with 18 holes of action each day on the par 72, 6,994-yard Furman University Golf Course.

Last week: Coastal carded a seventh place finish as it hosted the 11th annual General Jim Hackler Championship at the DeBordieu Club. Freshman Peter Valasek, playing as an individual, carded a final round 78 to post his first career top 10 finish, tying for ninth in the 84-competitor field.

Women's Golf
This week: The CCU women's golf team will return to the course beginning on Sunday with the opening round of the Battle at Rancho Bernardo hosted by San Diego State at the Championship Golf Course at Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort & Spa in San Diego, Calif. The three-day event will conclude on Tuesday.

Last week: The Chants turned in a fourth place finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational as Brittany Henderson led the Chanticleers with a 54-hole total of 222 to tie for second overall.

Men’s Tennis
This Week: Coastal travels to South Carolina on Sunday to face the Gamecocks, ranked No. 48 in the latest ITA poll. Match time is set for 4 p.m. in Columbia. Freshman Garik Yedigarian is currently ranked No. 167 by ITA Tennis, the first time a Coastal men's singles player has been ranked under head coach Chris Powers.

Last Week: The men’s team posted a 2-0 record on the week with a home win against James Madison on Saturday followed by a road will against Furman on Tuesday. Trailing the match against Furman 3-0 Coastal won four straight singles matches to defeat the Paladins 4-3. Coastal is now 10-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

Women’s Tennis
This Week:
Coastal women’s tennis resumes its conference schedule on Saturday when they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., to play the Runnin’ Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb at noon. The Chants play at Charlotte the following day at 11 a.m. followed by a trip to Buies Creek on Tuesday where they play Campbell at 2:30 p.m.

Last Week: The women’s team suffered its first loss of the season last Wednesday to UNC Greensboro 5-2 but bounced back to defeat the Temple Owls on Friday morning 6-1. Coastal then traveled to Winter Haven, Fla., where it topped Quinnipiac (5-2) and Rhode Island (7-0) in a pair of neutral matches. The Chants are 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Big South.
