All-Time Director's Cup Standings

CONWAY - Thanks to being the only school to have both its football and men's soccer programs reach the NCAA Sweet 16, Coastal Carolina stands 47th in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup through the fall sports season.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women's and 10 men's. Stanford leads the standings, scoring 398.00 points as the Cardinal finished third at the NCAA Championships in both women's soccer and cross country, fifth in women's volleyball, sixth in FBS football, ninth in women's field hockey and 16th in men's cross country.

The Chanticleers, with 117 points to date, earned 53 points for reaching the second round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship and 64 points for winning two rounds in the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.

Coastal Carolina is currently the highest ranked Big South program and the fifth-highest FCS program, trailing #14 Georgetown, #17 Princeton, #31 Old Dominion and #42 Villanova. This also marks Coastal's highest finish in the Director's Cup through the fall sports season. Its previous best was ranking 79th after 2003 fall sports season, which is also the last time CCU men's soccer reached the NCAA Sweet 16.

"We had a tremendous fall sports season and we are excited about the potential success our winter and spring sports programs can achieve," said CCU Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek. "While currently being fifth-best among the FCS programs is a great start, we as a department will not be satisfied until our vision - to become the premier Division I FCS department of athletics in the country - is reached."

Last season, Coastal Carolina finished in a tie for 154th with 100 points, earning 25 points for baseball, 25 for softball and 50 for men's soccer.
