Charles L. Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field
The Coastal Carolina baseball team calls Charles Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field home. The stadium has received significant upgrades in the past six years, making the playing surface one of the best in the Southeast.
In 2008, new seats and new turf outside the bases and home plate were installed. The clubhouse was also renovated with new lockers, a new lounge and a new training facility. The facility also underwent renovations in 2004, which included a new scoreboard, a new fence, a new infield and a new sound system. The field also had new lights installed in 2005.
Stadium capacity was expanded to nearly 2,200 during the 2008 season, with the addition of a right field deck dubbed, "The Rooster's Nest." The stadium played host to an NCAA Regional for the first time in 2008 and also hosted the Big South Tournament as recently as 2006.
Other amenities of Charles Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field include a practice field, a six-mound bullpen and a first-class lockerroom.
The brand new Coastal Carolina baseball/hitting facility was completed in May 2010 and provides the Chanticleers with one of the top indoor practice facilities in the country.
The $1.2 million facility, built beyond the centerfield wall of Watson Stadium, has space for a full, artificial turf practice infield (17,424 square feet) with as many as 12 hitting cages featuring a mechanical netting system that can be raised and lowered accordingly from the ceiling. The covered facility allows the Chanticleers to practice inside in case of inclement weather, or serves as an area for more individual instruction.
